The Weber Performer Charcoal Grill with Touch and Go Propane Ignition
If you are a fan of using charcoal to grill with but hate waiting forever for the grill to warm up, the Weber performer charcoal grill with touch and go propane ignition is a god sent. I used to use the Weber one touch grills back in the day and they worked ok, but when I started using the Performer I was more apt to actually use my grill. Many people like the way this grill is designed and how it uses a gas ignition to light the charcoal instead of you having to use lighter fluid. I don't know about you but I taste a more natural flavor when I do not use lighter fluid and that’s one of the reasons I like this grill so much.
I think that Weber did a great job when designing this grill. They took what people hated about charcoal and made it easier. This grill has the convenience of a gas grill and the taste of a charcoal grill and I really like the fact that they also included a spacious counter for people to work on. It is really helpful when you are in the middle of grilling and need a place to put something like that big plate of ribs!
Another thing that I like about this grill is the ash catch pan. It actually keeps the ashes from getting everywhere which was a problem with the Weber silver series grills. It keeps my deck from getting ashes all over it and it is easy to empty so I cannot complain.
People have said that the charcoal container that Weber provides is a great idea, but don't leave the charcoal in there if you leave your grill outside or uncovered because there is a chance that the charcoal could get damp from being outside. Weber claims that the bin helps keep the charcoal dry so we shall see. Other than that I think it is a really handy feature and one that works well if you are hosting a cookout and know you will need more charcoal throughout the day.
Another thing I liked about the Weber performer charcoal grill with touch and go propane ignition was that they included a thermometer in the lid so that you can keep an eye on the temperature. They have these on some of the other charcoal grills and they work all right, although I would not say that it is 100% accurate, it does do a good job at helping you monitor the temp. It maintains a nice and even cooking temp anyway which helps cook food evenly so that the center is not undercooked and the outside is not burnt to a crisp.
Of course if you are a charcoal griller at heart you will appreciate the way Weber has made a charcoal grill easy to use. I think that this is one of the best grills on the market today and apparently so do a lot of other people judging by the reviews on Amazon.

The Weber Smokey Mountain 18.5 Inch Smoker - Is It A Good Deal?
If you have been thinking about getting a new smoker for the summer, you may have notices the Weber Smokey Mountain 18.5 inch smoker around. This great smoker is built really well and will last you a number of years, but it is important to make sure that it is a good fit for you. This short review will help you make an informed buying decision so you can start smoking your own meat sooner.
If you have never smoked anything before you may think that it is challenging to do right. While there is a bit of a learning curve, you should be able to get the hang of using this smoker after a few tries. The beauty of this thing is that Weber designed it so that the armature can easily use it as well as the professional. You can smoke almost anything thanks to the ample smoking space that Weber provides. If you need more you may want to go with the 22.5 inch smoker, but as many people have found out, the 18.5 inch is plenty big enough for them.
One of the nice things about this smoker is that you can get it going and let it smoke your meat without having to put in much effort. You will have to check on it and maybe add some more coals or water to it, but other than that it is pretty much hands free. You can monitor the temperature via the built in thermometer, but most of the heat stays in the smoker and it maintains a consistent temperature throughout the smoking process so things come out nice and fully smoked like you would expect.
Many people have found it helpful to place an oven or grill thermometer on the smoking rack because the thermometer that comes with the WSM is not always accurate. This is an easy fix and only is necessary if you must maintain very precise cooking temperatures, although it does keep a nice steady temperature as mentioned above.
All in all the Weber Smokey mountain 18.5 inch smoker is a good choice for many people who are looking for a good way to smoke their meat to perfection. You can find some great recipes online at Weber's website or in any of the many cookbooks out there on smoking like Weber's infamous Low and Slow cookbook. Although the WSM does cost more than most other smokers on the market, the extra money you spend on this smoker will be worth it in the end because you are buying a quality product that will give you many years of great performance.
